Candan İşcan

Candan İşcan works with various techniques and materials and has been living and working in Istanbul since 2013. The artist graduated from graphic design, and blended their knowledge of graphics and original printing in their artwork. In addition to monoprint, screen printing, lithography and linocut techniques, the artist also works with charcoal and oil paint.\nThe artist uses still life and portrait traditions, contrary to where they start, and constructs images of daily life and nature unrealistically, with elements referring to lowbrow, pop and sub-culture. İşcan includes uncanny, frightening, mischievous yet familiar, attractive and tempting images in their works.\nIn addition to artworks, the artist works as a lecturer and graphic designer. In 2021, they became the founding partner of the TAHTOY brand, which produces designer wooden toys. Active in different fields, the artist continues their career with works focused on art and design.
